Every day is a new opportunity
MME is a private, non-profit corporation in Lake County, Montana, established in 1975 to provide high quality, community-based services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Central to our mission is the belief people with intellectual disabilities deserve every opportunity to lead full, independent lives in the community of their choosing.
MME Mission and Vision
Our mission is to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live self-directed, purpose-filled lives by providing individualized supports, inclusive opportunities, and respectful partnerships.
We envision an inclusive community where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valued, supported, and empowered to live meaningful lives.
At MME, we offer residential services, day activities and outings, vocational services, a supported living program, and transportation services. These services are profoundly empowering for people with intellectual disabilities, many of whom are moving away from institutional living and into community living. It may be the first time they have had a private bedroom to call their own, a voice in their personal surroundings, a paying job, time to themselves, or the independence to simply walk to the store.
History of MME
“Starting in the 1975, the Lake County Multipurpose Center – Special Citizens’ Center was a place for I/DD adults to come together as a community.
We renamed ourselves around 1978 to Mission Mountain Enterprises and then again in 2023 to
Mission Mountain Empowerment (MME). The newest name recognizes that our responsibility
and actions are to empower these individuals to be a part of the greater community that they
live in. No longer was our organization simply a building to go to, now MME helps pave the way
for a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Our operations have grown along with our availability to provide greater community integration
for them. Along the way we have added 4 group homes, a training center, an activity center, administration building, and one thrift store
(Nifty Thrifty).
We’re proud of our impact
MME currently supports around 50 individuals with a staff of nearly 100. Our organization has played an integral role in building healthier, more inclusive neighborhoods here in Lake County. We appreciate the continued support from our local community!
