MME Takes First Place in the 2026 Cardboard Boat Races

Mission Mountain Empowerment (MME) made a splash at the Mission Valley Aquatics & Fitness Cardboard Boat Races on April 19, 2026, bringing home first place after an afternoon filled with creativity, teamwork, and plenty of laughs.

The challenge was simple—but far from easy. Teams were tasked with building a boat and a pair of oars using only cardboard and duct tape. Once construction was complete, two teammates had to climb aboard and paddle the length of the swimming pool without sinking.

MME's team rose to the challenge, designing a sturdy boat that successfully carried its crew across the pool faster than the competition. Their teamwork, problem-solving, and determination earned them the top spot and the first-place title.

Events like the Cardboard Boat Races are about more than just competition. They provide opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and community involvement while encouraging participants to think outside the box and work together toward a common goal. Our participants and staff demonstrated all of these qualities throughout the event, making the experience both memorable and rewarding.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented MME. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and positive attitudes made the day a tremendous success.

Congratulations to our championship team, and thank you to Mission Valley Aquatics & Fitness for hosting such a fun and engaging community event. We can't wait to see what next year's race has in store!
