Walt began working in the intellectual/developmental disabilities field after graduating from college in 1973. He has worked in programs in Iowa, Washington State and Montana and, before retiring in June, 2017, he served for 25 years as part of the Mission Mountain Enterprises Administrative team. He spends his time engaging in his current hobbies, which include listening to and playing music, reading, especially history, hiking and nature photoghaphy.

I am a retired middle and high school teacher who has been on the Mission Mountain Enterprise Board since 2015.  Our son has been a client of MME since 2008, which allows me to bring a parent’s perspective to the Board.  Every parent, whether your son or daughter has a disability or not, understands the importance of that adult child’s need to feel like he or she belongs to a group, has friends, feels accepted, and is a productive member of society.  MME provides and supports these needs.  I have always taken an active role in our son’s life and by being a member of the Board I feel I can stay involved and at the same time give back to MME for all it’s done for our son.
